Taco Night Pop-Ups at Last Word featuring "Eat Mexico" September 21

Calling all taco lovers! Chef Marco Serrano presents a taste of Mexico in this month’s Taco Night Pop-Up. Serrano’s Mexico City-style street food is the real deal, and like real street food, it’s always on the move…so get yours while it’s hot! On Monday, September 21, Taco Night pops up at Last Word in the Old Fourth Ward starting at 6 p.m. on the dot! Chef Serrano partners with Chef Lesley Tellez for the evening, author of the recently released cookbook, “Eat Mexico.” While diners have the chance to order one of her recipes from the menu, Chef Tellez will be on hand to chat about her love of Mexican cuisine with copies of her book in tow. Come one, come all and grab a taco and cookbook!

Serrano’s Mexico City-style street food is the real deal, and like real street food, it’s here one week, another locale the next. On Monday, August 24, his Taco Night Pop-up lands a 6 p.m. spot at Last Word in the Old Fourth Ward to wake up sleepy taste buds. Mamá Serrano is in town to prepare her speciality and a three generation Serrano family recipe, mixiotes, with son Chef Marco. The agave leaves were flown straight from México City for the August 24th Taco Night. Limited availability. Who wants one?

Are They Tough Enough to Go Raw? Ward and Walk are A-Team for Monday Night Raw June 15

Executive chefs Layla Walk of Last Word and Joey Ward of Gunshow prove their mettle on the mat during “Monday Night Raw” at Last Word on June 15 from 6-8:30 p.m. Employing knives and a cutting mat, instead of punches over a wrestling mat, the two will knock out a selection of raw items -- from crudos to ceviches to tartares -- and offer them Gunshow-style in the dining room. Guests will stay on the edge of their seats, crooning to see what’s next from the two pros. On the B-Team (“B” for behind-the-bar), Gunshow cocktail cart conductor Mercedes O’Brien and Last Word beverage director Cole Younger Just churn out craft cocktail hits.
