Atlanta Chefs and Philanthropists Party in the Kitchen for Open Hand Atlanta on September 18


Nonprofit Open Hand is the nation’s largest provider of home-delivered, medically appropriate meals, preparing, packing and delivering more than 5,000 meals daily and two million annually to residents across metro Atlanta and 17 Georgia counties. It was founded twenty-five years ago by several Atlantans who cooked meals for friends who were too ill to prepare meals on their own.

To grow and support Open Hand, Atlanta chefs and residents are coming together to Party in the Kitchen, and a party it is. An evening of music, food, drink and live and silent auctions are the happenings at King Plow Arts Center Event Gallery on Thursday, September 17 beginning at 7 p.m. Chef Gerry Klaskala of Aria is the co-chair for Party in the Kitchen. Chefs Shaun Doty of Bantam + Biddy and Chick-a-Biddy, Fuyuhiko and Lisa Ito of Umi and others will also be joining in on the event. Pull out your party dress and buy your ticket today! 

Dine in the Garden before Summer Slips Away -- Milton’s Cuisine & Cocktails Garden Dinner is September 14


To cap the growing season, Milton’s Cuisine & Cocktails is hosting the year’s last two Garden Dinners on Sunday, September 14 and October 12. This seed-to-fork garden dinner composed by chef Derek Dollar is complete with a farm tour of Milton’s Acre and Strawberry Fields, led by grower Peter Kohm.


Come hungry! This gathering kicks off with hors d’oeuvre and beverages to get your appetite going. Relish goat cheese toast with caramelized onions and candied pecans; spinach and frisèe salad with shaved butternut squash, green apples, sunflower seeds, Asher blue cheese and honey-cider vinaigrette; and red-eye brined smoked pork loin among other options from the four-course chef’s dinner with wine.

Dine at Ray’s on the River, Ted’s Montana Grill during Cobb Restaurant Week, September 13-20

For all of our Cobb dwellers out there, next week is your week for some serious grub. Cobb Restaurant Week is upon us! From September 13-20, prix fixe lunch and dinner menus will be scattered around the hot dining spots in the area.

Ray's on the River is offering a $35 prix fixe dinner menu, covering soup to salad and steak to seafood. Start off with a cup of seafood gumbo adorned with andouille sausage. Segue into the next course with a six-ounce filet mignon before ending the night right with a chocolate brownie sundae with strawberries and caramelized bananas. Make reservations through OpenTable.

Bite into some bison at
Ted's Montana Grill. All four Cobb County locations (Cumberland, Kennesaw, East Cobb and West Cobb) are participating with a three-course lunch and dinner menu for $25. Start off fresh with a Caesar or house salad. Choose from cedar-plank salmon, braised bison short ribs or hand-cut beef Delmonico ribeye. Be sure to save room for dessert! A wildberry cheesecake is on the menu.

On Friday morning, September 12, go by the Emory Village restaurant and grab a free cup of joe from 8-10 a.m. If Fridays are your days for sleeping in, remember that this spot offers grab-and-go coffee and breakfast bites any day of the week.

Ink & Elm opens at 7 a.m. for the early birds and serves Intelligentsia coffee then satisfies the late risers with casual meals, snacks, cheese and charcuterie through lunch and dinner.
