Kevin Gillespie Pops Up for Meals on Wheels at the Peachtree Road Farmers Market September 19
Kevin Gillespie of Glenwood Park sensation Gunshow and new Revival in Decatur hopes his pop-up chef demo at the Peachtree Road Farmers Market this Saturday, September 19 will help Meals On Wheels provide more farm-fresh produce and healthy meals to Atlanta seniors in need. Shoppers will be able to donate to Meals on Wheels Atlanta when they stop by the demo tent to watch the red-bearded, big-hearted chef transform market produce into delicious dishes like spicy sausage and kale soup. Donations offset the cost of vegetables provided to Meals on Wheels Atlanta. In the mood for something smokey? Terminus City chopped whole hog BBQ sandwiches are for sale to satisfy your 'cue craving. When he’s not chopping or mixing, Gillespie will set down knives and pull out pens to sign copies of his hog-wild cookbooks “Pure Pork Awesomeness” and "Fire in my Belly." Shop the largest producer-only market in Atlanta, held at The Cathedral of St. Philip, from 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m.

Chef Kevin Gillespie Leads Gallery Talk at High Museum of Art on December 5
Already have Thirsty Thursday plans this week? Good, ditch them and instead, enjoy a cultural night of better drinks, beautiful art and excellent company at the High Museum of Art from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday, December 5. Gunshow owner, chef, Fire in My Belly cookbook author and Bravo “Top Chef” star Kevin Gillespie will be there too, so you know it's going to be a rocking good time. He'll be creating a sculpture using the freshest ingredients from his kitchen with...OK, just kidding. Gillespie actually joins Dr. Pegah Zamani, Southern Polytechnic State University professor of architecture, to lead Dialogue, an informal gallery talk of their favorite High pieces. For those coming straight from work, receive half-price admission after 4 p.m. With extended hours, a DJ and a bar (hence the "Thirsty Thursday" reference), plus the company of the talented and tattooed chef Gillespie, there's no excuse good enough to miss this. Seriously.

Kevin Gillespie is Celebrity Chef at BB&T Atlanta Open Charity Night
Kevin Gillespie is this year's celebrity chef for the 2013 BB&T Atlanta Open "Tennis on the Town" charity event. This event will be hosted at Atlantic Station on Saturday, June 20 and will benefit Y youth tennis programs for the YMCA of Metro Atlanta. The Bravo "Top Chef" celebrity and the man behind the newly-opened restaurant, Gunshow, will be cooking up recipes from his cookbook, "Fire in My Belly". The evening's signature cocktail is the perfect way to wash down the tasty bites. Be sure to get those bargaining skills ready, because 10 attendees will win an in-home cooking class and dinner with Gillespie himself during a live-auction bidding. No need to be a tennis star to attend - even Gillespie needs a little practice with a racket! Register for the event at http://www.atlantaymcatennis.org by July 18; tickets are $150 per person or $250 for two.

Kevin Gillespie's First Cookbook is at the Printer
I always say I'm going to start my Christmas shopping early and then, mysteriously, it's December 24th. But this year will be different!! Everyone is getting Kevin Gillespie's new cookbook, Fire in My Belly. Having had the pleasure of reading the draft version I can promise you that it is awesome. It's like sitting down to a chat with Kevin. Oh, and there are recipes! He's very descriptive about how to choose the right ingredients and uses a lot of humor to entice you to try something you thought you hated or get creative with an old favorite. The book is at the printer and a small amount of copies will make it to Atlanta for an October 9 party at Woodfire Grill. Everyone else will have to wait another week! So mark your calendar and cross off your holiday list.

October Is The Month To Celebrate Books That Help You Cook
Devoured a good cookbook lately? October is National Cookbook Month, and we have a (recyclable) shopping bag full of tantalizing cookbooks to chew! Near and dear to our aprons is Atlanta Cooks at Home, which highlights Atlanta's prominent chefs and dangles personal interviews between their recipes including plans for easy and noteworthy entertaining. Virginia Willis' newly released cookbook, Basic to Brilliant, Y'all: 150 Refined Southern Recipes and Ways to Dress Them Up for Company, is destined to be a staple in any modern Southern kitchen. Open Spice Market's newest release, Asian Flavors of Jean-Georges, for global inspiration. The Spice Kitchen: Everyday Cooking with Organic Spices by Katie Luber and Sara Engram is another spicy hot read. From the sweet-tea brined pork shoulder to making sausage, Libbie Summers shows how to honor every succulent porcine part in The Whole Hog Cookbook: Chops, Loin, Shoulder, Bacon, and All That Good Stuff. Quick-Fix Southern: Homemade Hospitality in 30 Minutes or Less by Rebecca Lang appeals to mouths craving tastes of the South but stuck with hands short on time. When you've completed this year's reading, get pumped for the fall 2012 release of Kevin Gillespie's Fire in My Belly.
