Father’s Day is June 21. Atlanta Restaurants Do Dad Proud
Day in, day out, dads are do-gooders. Flip the tables and give them a day off from manning the grill, smoking pork butts and mowing the lawn by tying an Atlanta restaurant experience onto the Father’s Day tree.
Land or sea? Dad nets both at Aqua blue in Roswell. Choose the Aqua blue Surf & Turf featuring grilled N.Y. strip and tempura shrimp with potato au gratin, asparagus and natural glaze ($32) or the prix fixe menu of fresh lobster salad, Aqua blue Surf & Turf and house-made bread pudding ($38). Available only on June 21; no substitutions or combinations with other offers. 770-643-8886.
Paleo papas are ravenous for the Father’s Day Meat Lover’s Cook Out ($22.95 per person) at 10th and Piedmont and G’s Midtown. A streetside grill turns out a churrascaria-style all-you-can-eat lineup with mouthwatering options such as bourbon-marinated flank steak with chimichurri; artisanal sausage; Sweetwater Blue barbecue chicken; Southern-style dry-rub pork tenderloin; and slow-roasted barbecue pulled pork. Includes sides. Regular à la carte brunch menu available. 404-602-5510.
“Herr” and now, Der Biergarten is offering its Konig Ludwig platter, which serves six, for $75 (normally $98). Feed the family with this hearty assortment of Jägerschnitzel, Wiener Schnitzel, Schweinshaxe, four sausages, sauerbraten, potato salad, sauerkraut, braised red cabbage and spätzle. No substitutions. 404-521-2728.
FLIP Burger boutique pulls dad off grill duty this Sunday, offering a FL-IPA and the manly rBQ burger of angus beef, pulled brisket, coleslaw, rBQ sauce and smoked mayo for $12 on Father’s Day. Available at all FLIP locations.
Would dad fix chicken-fried lobster at home? Why try when MAX's Wine Dive masters the dish, along with father-friendly specials like steak and eggs and innovative bar food. And then there’s MAX’s superior wine list. 404-249-0445.
Just north of the ATL in historic Crabapple, Milton’s Cuisine & Cocktails’ chef Derek Dollar presents a Father’s Day brunch menu -- think chicken and waffles, blackened Atlantic salmon, shrimp and grits -- from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. $32 per person for adults and $16 per person for children 12 and younger. Cap dad’s day with a dinner celebration. Reserve a table and enjoy the regular menu plus "meat-tacular" features such as bone-in rib-eye and pork chops between 5-9 p.m. 770-817-0161.
Switch up the traditional Father’s Day grill out and experience authentic sushi and seafood; no passport required! RA Sushi has your Father’s Day all planned out. From open to close on Father’s Day Sunday celebrate dad with cocktails, great food, and good conversation!
Ray’s Restaurants fills dad’s love tank, morning, noon or night. Ray’s on the River offers a brunch buffet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. ($39.95 for adults, $19.95 for kids ages 5 to 10), and its regular dinner menu from 5-9 p.m. 770-955-1187.Ray’s at Killer Creek sets out its signature brunch buffet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. ($29.95 for adults, $15.95 for kids 5 to 10), along with its regular dinner menu (5-9 p.m.). 770-649-0064. Ray’s in the City offers special à la carte brunch, lunch and dinner menus from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. 404-524-9224.
Finally, let chef Kevin Gillespie’s Terminus City experts chop the pork butt this weekend and bag a signature Father’s Day barbecue package to go (feeds 4-6). Includes 2 pounds of barbecue pork, 1 pint of Revival potato salad, 1 pint of shaker-style coleslaw, 6 chocolate chip cookies, 6 sandwich rolls, barbecue sauce and pork cracklings. Pay $50 for food alone or $75 to include a personalized copy of Gillespie’s new cookbook, “Pure Pork Awesomeness.” Orders must be received by Tuesday, June 16, at midnight to ensure availability. Cookbook buyers, include name for personalization. Place order: 404-380-1886 or emailterminuscity@gunshowatl.com. Pick up orders Sunday, June 21, from 10 a.m. to noon at Gunshow.

Join RA Sushi for 11th Annual Nicky’s Week Fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, May 25-31
Thanks to community support and fundraisers like Nicky’s Week at RA Sushi Bar Restaurant, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
is able to help children live -- without billing their families. During
RA Sushi’s largest annual fundraiser, 100 percent of Nicky’s Week menu
profits go to St. Jude. The math adds up: since inception and counting
all 26 locations nationwide, more than $1.5 million has gone toward the
hospital’s lifesaving mission. This year, the Midtown restaurant will
offer the Nicky’s Week menu Monday, May 25 through Sunday, May 31. Order
favorites such as edamame, Tootsy maki, shrimp nigiri, pork gyoza,
sesame garlic chicken, garlic citrus yellowtail, plus a variety of
select beverages. Nicholas “Nicky” Mailliard, St. Jude patient and
nephew of one of RA Sushi’s founders, lost a long battle with brain
cancer in 2005 at age 13. His courage and spirit won the hearts of RA
Sushi associates and led to the Nicky’s Week legacy, a big “RAh” for
aiding children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases at
St. Jude.

Four crisp, new salads from RA Sushi Bar Restaurant are the newest
additions to the summer menu. With
the Asian chicken salad, the Midtown restaurant tosses together
mixed greens, chicken, cucumbers, onions and tomatoes in seasoned soy

sesame seeds ($10). The grilled shrimp and pineapple salad brings together
mixed greens, shrimp, pineapple and green onion with Suehiro vinaigrette and
sweet cayenne cashews ($11.75). Sushi and salad become one with the sashimi
salad that includes tuna, yellowtail, salmon and shrimp sashimi with mixed
greens, seaweed, cucumber, avocado, lo bok, poke dressing and is topped with
sesame seeds, wonton chips and sliced red pepper ($12). The last salad on the
menu is the dill salmon cucumber salad that combines seared salmon with mixed

Leave the Labor to Your Fave ATL Restaurants this Labor Day Weekend
You have to love the devoted chefs and wait staff at these Atlanta restaurants. They're laboring in hot kitchens on the last holiday weekend of summer, making sure all of those farm-fresh finds and cold brews find their way to your table. When you love what you do, it's not really work anyway.
Atkins Park Restaurant & Bar in Virginia-Highland will remain open late on Sunday, September 1 for pre-Labor Day enjoyment. The neighborhood favorite plans a special Labor Day brunch feature on Monday, September 2. Over on the Westside, Ormsby's almost pulls an all-nighter, staying open until 3 a.m. as Sunday becomes Monday, then naps through lunch before opening again at 5 p.m. on Labor Day evening.
If you're "chicken" to dine out because you just want something comfy and family friendly, head over to Bantam + Biddy in Ansley Mall for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Get it to go if you are envisioning a picnic or patio supper at your place. Fast and casualChick-a-Biddy in Atlantic Station will be open for its usual weekend brunch menu and lunch and dinner. Both eateries offer regional, all-natural and pastured poultry dishes plus loads more down-home goodies and cold libations.
Inspired and wood-fired describe the pizzas at Hearth Pizza Tavern just outside the perimeter in Sandy Springs. Salads, sandwiches and burgers round out the menu while wine, draft and bottled beer, plus other beverages keep everyone hydrated and happy.
There are lots of reasons to head downtown, one of them being that with many offices closed for the holiday there will be less traffic! Located in the Glenn Hotel, Glenn's Kitchen is a casual-yet-sophisticated spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner. SkyLounge, also at the Glenn, is a lovely place to coddle a cocktail while taking in a skyline view. With more than 60 games and lots of sports-viewing screens, Game-X is headquarters for an active and fun holiday. A full bar and lots of nourishing nosh options keep everyone's adrenalin pumping.
On this all-American holiday weekend, meet up with friends for a labor-less meal at an American classic, Marlow's Tavern. With 10 locations around Atlanta (and two in Florida), there's a Marlow's Tavern near your neighborhood.
Fifth Group Restaurants La Tavola Trattoria and The Original El Taco will be open in Virginia-Highland, and Ecco will please those heading to Midtown.
That beachy getaway is as close as the deck and seafood-laden menu at The Big Ketch Saltwater Grill in Buckhead. Margaritas, cold brews, and eat-in or to-go cantina fare are all yours at Tin Lizzy's Cantina Buckhead, Grant Park and Perimeter locations.
Those craving sushi and cocktails will be glad to know that RA Sushi Bar Restaurant in Midtown will be open on Labor Day.

Raise Money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital with RA Sushi's 9th Annual Nicky's Week, May 26 - June 1
During Nicky's Week, eating edamame and Tootsy maki at Midtown's RA Sushi Bar Restaurant goes straight to helping children at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. From Sunday, May 26 through Saturday, June 1, and now in its ninth year, the annual spring benefit dedicates 100 percent of the proceeds from select menu and drink items to assist kids battling cancer and other deadly diseases. St. Jude's patients receive care regardless of their family's ability to pay. The inspiration behind the effort is Nicky Mailliard, a St. Jude's patient and nephew of one of RA Sushi's founders. The 13-year old inspired many RA Sushi employees during his brave battle against brain cancer in 2005. Since the start of Nicky's Week, RA Sushi has raised more than $1 million for St. Jude's! Now that's a reason to eat out!
