Get to Know Some Rogues and Experience Reformation over Dinner and Spirits at The Southern Gentleman

Add Providence, Cadence, Declaration and Stark to your local-brew friend list after meeting these Reformation Brewery beers over a four-course dinner with pairings at The Southern Gentleman on Thursday, January 28. Beginning at 7 p.m., executive chef Matthew Ridgway teams the Old World-style beers from Woodstock, Georgia, with dishes like smoked trout rillettes, frisée with Scotch egg and bacon lardons, and braised beef cheeks with dumplings, shaved Brussels sprouts and apple salad. Dessert? Count on it. $55 per person.
Return to The Shops Buckhead Atlanta gastropub for a mix of distilled spirits and brews from the “Rogue Nation” of Rogue Ales & Spirits at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3. Contrast Fresh Roast Ale and Marionberry Braggot (using Rogue Farms’ own Marionberries and Hopyard Honey) with Oregon Rye Whiskey and Hazelnut Spice Rum while dining on four courses. The Pig & The Pearl Debuts Third Thursday Beer Dinner with Orpheus Brewing


The Pig & The Pearl catapults third Thursdays into a monthly high point with the debut of its Third Thursday Beer Dinner series on January 15. The Atlantic Station restaurant known for succulent smoked meats and raw, smoked and steamed seafood is casting Atlanta's artisanal Orpheus Brewing in the opening brew mastery role. Orpheus' two year-round signature brews are first up, chased by two seasonal crafts. Atalanta, a tart plum saison 5.25%, teams with tuna tartare with ponzu gelée and shiso, smoked oyster toast with celery root slaw and trout tartare with crème fraiche and smoked trout roe. Next, Szechuan pork belly with charred broccoli stem and fried rice plays well with Lyric Ale 6.5%. Sykophantes, an earthy fig sour 7.5%, escorts smoked short beef ribs with white bean ragout, and Wandering Blues, a blueberry sour 6%, complements huckleberry pound cake with sea salt ice cream. $50 per person (tax and gratuity not included). Spring Terrapin Beer Dinner at Atkins Park on May 15


Terrapin Beer is teaming up with Atkins Park Restaurant & Tavern in Virginia-Highland to pair five different Terrapin brews with four courses at its Spring Beer Dinner on Thursday, May 15. Chef Andrew Smith stokes his dinner menu with spring tastes: shaved spring vegetable salad; steamed buns with green chili-smoked pork belly, pickled cucumber and pineapple; wood-grilled hanger steak with duck fat potato cakes, grilled Vidalia onions and roasted local mushrooms; and a fine finish of dark chocolate and cashew tart. Terrapins include Hi-5 Westcoast IPA, Maggie’s Cask Peach Farmhouse ale, Pineapple Express Helles lager, Hopzilla double IPA and Moonray Chocolate Orange Weizenbock. Hearth Pizza Tavern Hosts Terrapin Brewing Dinner on May 14



Hearth Pizza Tavern and Terrapin Beer team up for dinner and drinks on Wednesday, May 14 at 7 p.m., serving five courses including beer pairings for only $30 per person. Start with an heirloom and fusion tomato and fresh mozzarella salad paired with Golden Ale. Next up, spring greens topped with fried rooster shrimp tossed in spicy aioli along with RecreationAle; golden brown artichoke bottoms served with Castelvetrano olive dressing and Hi-5 IPA; and “Cowboy” pizza with marinated flank steak paired with Hopsecutioner IPA. STATS Helps Save Our Water with Five-Course SweetWater Beer Dinner on Aug. 23


"Can't make good beer without good water," confess the brewmasters at SweetWater Brewing Company. No wonder this Atlanta-based brewery has been dedicated to protecting local waterways for more than a decade. Jumping in the boat to help the Waterkeeper Alliance's Save Our Water CampaignSTATS is hosting a five-course dinner with SweetWater beer pairings on Friday, August 23 at 7:30 p.m. Georgia trout roe and house-made potato chips pair up with SweetWater Waterkeeper Hefeweizen; SweetWater Blue is a natural alongside an arugula, fig and blueberry salad with homemade ricotta; IPA-brined crispy quail arrives with SweetWater IPA; porcini-rubbed hangar steak and SweetWater 420 team up well; and SweetWater Georgia Brown complements Krispy Kreme bread pudding, incorporating more of the same brew. $45 per person including tax, gratuity and a $10 donation to the Save Our Water Campaign. Woodfire Grill Dinner Highlights Five Craft Beers from Stone Brewing Company on October 23 and Rhone Valley Wines on October 25


  
Versatile beer can hop right in there as the beverage of choice to go with fall's heartier fare. Such is the case as Woodfire Grill Chef de Cuisine E.J. Hodgkinson plans his four-course menu to complement five Stone Brewing Company craft beers at the restaurant's Tuesday, October 23 beer dinner. The evening begins with a 6:30 p.m. reception followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Paired California brews include:  Stone Cali-Belgique IPA (California-style IPA with a Belgian influence); Stone Ruination IPA (big, bold, bitter character on a refreshing malt base); Stone Smoked Porter (dark, smooth and complex with rich chocolate and coffee flavors, balanced by a subtle smokiness); Stone Imperial Russian Stout (intensely aromatic with notes of anise, black currants and coffee) and Stone 16th Anniversary IPA (a double IPA with rich toasted malt character punctuated by hints of spicy rye and subtle lemon). $80 per person, not including tax or gratuity. Prefer wine over beer? A leisurely 8-wine tasting shifts the focus to Rhone Valley red wines on Thursday, October 25. Sommelier Cate Hatch pours through 8 red wines from Gigondas, Croze Hermitage, Hermitage, Chatenunuf du Pape, St. Joseph and Cote Rotie. Geographically, the wines range from Grenache in the south to Syrah in the north with stops at more rich vineyards in between. $15 per person. A Sch'Wheat Way to Kick Off Your Memorial Day Weekend

Bark Up the Right Tree at Woodfire Grill on April 29

On Wednesday, April 29, Woodfire Grill is hosting a Dogfish Head beer dinner where the bites are just as strong as the bark! Guests will get to taste three varieties of microwbrews paired with Executive Chef Kevin Gillespie’s three-course menu. Aprihop accompanies the first course of lightly cured wild Alaskan salmon, cucumber and apricot salad and hard-cooked egg. Indian Brown Ale comes next with a wood-smoked loin of beef, braised mushrooms, celery mash, confit garlic cloves, black pepper and lemon jus. 5 Seasons At The Prado Party Helps Chefs Touch The World At Terra Madre Global Conference

I love when my love of eating out has a positive impact on the world – even if it does have negative impact on my waist! This week, the solution to world hunger may venture through the kitchen at the October Terra Madre conference in Turin, Italy, where more than 600 food producers, chefs/cooks and educators from 120 countries will gather there to focus on issues of nutritional concern. Topics will range from biodiversity and sustainability to hunger, water solutions, rural transitions and more. Slow Food Atlanta is transporting representatives to Turin with lively fundraising events such as “A Taste of Terra Madre” slated for 6:30 p.m. on Monday, September 8 at 5 Season's Brewing Company at the Prado.
