Bellina Alimentari executive chef David Berry is one of the Ponce City Market chefs hosting Sunday Supper South, a Friends of James Beard benefit dinner on November 1, and their “Beetlejuice” decor theme isn’t scaring any chefs (or guests) away. Quite the contrary. James Beard Award-winning chefs, nominees and semi-finalists from across the South, including local favorite Shaun Doty of Bantam + Biddy and Chick-a-Biddy, are coming together to cook up a formidable family style feast. Following a 5:30 p.m. cocktail hour, guests will dine in the historic mixed-use center’s courtyard, spookily attired for the post-Halloween happening. Friends of James Beard benefit dinners raise funds for the James Beard Foundation (JBF), a 501(c)(3) organization supporting JBF scholarships and other culinary programs. $275 per person; $250 for JBF members. Call 404-365-0410 ext. 22 to buy tickets or for more information.

Aria's Kathryn King at Sunday Supper South This Weekend

Sunday Supper South, a regional version of the successful NYC Chelsea Market event, was awesome last year and it's already time for round two! This year's event includes Pastry Chef Kathryn King from Aria as one of the visionary chefs and artisans participating in the family-style Friends of James Beard Benefit Dinner. More than 25 James Beard Foundation award-winning and prominent chefs from across the Southeast will gather to honor Southern cooking in the revitalized Westside Provisions District. The evening has a philanthropic goal: to raise money for the culinary scholarship program funded by the not-for-profit James Beard Foundation (a 501 (c)(3) organization.) Following a 5 p.m. reception, 150 guests will gather around a very long communal table for an evening planned by hosts Anne Quatrano and Clifford Harrison of Bacchanalia, Quinones at Bacchanalia, Abattoir, Floataway Café and Star Provisions. Chew more details on Facebook.
