Who Remembers Prohibition? Atlanta's Oldest Continuously Licensed Tavern Does -- Atkins Park Tavern in Virginia Highland Hosts 1920s-Themed Prohibition Dinner and Party

Anyone remember prohibition?  Atkins Park Tavern in Virginia Highland does, because next month Atlanta’s oldest continuously licensed tavern turns the big 9-0 on Wednesday, February 29. That’s right; this tavern has been serving up great drinks and great food since the prohibition days of 1922. But unlike back in the day, this Prohibition dinner is no secret, so feel free to tell the whole gang! Out With the Wine, In With the Brew: Pair Your Plate With a Pint at Atkins Park Tavern

I think it's safe to say that we're all a bit tired of hearing about "wine down Wednesday" promotions. Don't get me wrong, I love my wine, but I'm really grateful that Atkins Park Tavern in Virginia-Highland has decided to take a new turn for hump day deals with the start of "Pint and Plate." Every Wednesday beginning at 5:30 p.m., guests can hoist the perfect pint of craft beer and a chef-prepared plate. The price depends on the pairing, which changes weekly and will be offered until it runs out. Tonight's Pint and Plate features an ahi tuna burger with black sesame, scallions, teriyaki-ginger mayo and arugula served with hand-cut fries and paired with Sweetwater IPA for $14. Happy hump day!

Atkins Park Brings Oktoberfest to Virginia-Highland

We've already been rejoicing the return of pumpkin spice lattes, and now it's time to toast lederhosen and everything else October-y at the Atkins Park Oktoberfest on Thursday, September 30 in Virginia-Highland. Atkins Park Chef Andrew Smith is preparing a special Oktoberfest menu of traditional German fare that includes veal and beef knackwurst with local apple sauerkraut, roasted potatoes and Stout mustard ($10); short rib sauerbraten with braised red cabbage and buttered noodles ($16); and Black Forest cheesecake ($5). The event will also feature Sam Adams Oktoberfest Beer. Just as if you were in Germany, this Oktoberfest keeps going into the wee hours since Atkins Park is open until 3 a.m. Monday through Saturday!
