Symbolic food, fortune cookies opening to restaurant discounts, free dumplings and Strawberry Firecracker cocktails crackling with Pop Rocks are in the plans for Spice Market's Chinese New Year celebration on Thursday, February 3. Hop to the restaurant inside the W Atlanta-Midtown to welcome the Year of the Rabbit. At the bar, $5 buys a Tsingtao beer -- ah so good with free dumplings prepared by Chef Shaun Suter. Party-hearty cocktails include the Mandarin orange martini ($7) and the Strawberry Firecracker ($8), lighting up your evening with fresh strawberries, basil, Thai chili, vodka, Cointreau and a Pop Rocks garnish.
Traditionally, red envelopes symbolizing good luck are exchanged over the New Year. In lieu of envelopes, each guest will receive a red fortune cookie stuffed with a Spice Market discount for a free appetizer, dessert, 25 percent off their entire check, 50 percent off wine or buy-one-get-one-free entrées (offers valid only on a return visit).
Spice Market: In the W Atlanta-Midtown, 188 14th Street, NE; 404-724-2550.
