Does it get any better than wine and pizza?
Well, yes, if it's organic wine and organic pizza. Last night the Atlanta Chapter of the American Institute of Wine and Food (AIWF) had their monthly "Wonderful Wednesday" at Pizza Fusion in Buckhead. Steve Hinternhoff from Quality Wine & Spirits brought Kristin Freund of Terre Rouge Wines. The group was able to taste five wines from their portfolio while sampling delicious pizza and mingling with fellow foodies. The verdict: the wines were awesome and they all went well with pizza!
My personal favorite was 2005 TERRE ROUGE Roussanne - Sierra Foothills. A Rhone Ranger, of course. I think I might stop by after work to see if there's any left ...
(My apologies to Kristin for making her look like she has a huge green bow on her head.)

Pizza Fusion Fundraiser to Re-Raise Stolen Money
I wanted to fill you in on a fundraiser that all Pizza Fusion locations are participating in, including our local Pizza Fusion restaurant. The newest location in Mesa, Arizona had their grand opening party at the end of January, where they were able to raise $8,000 in support of the Smiths, who are still hospitalized for injuries due to a drunk driving accident in which they tragically lost their two sons earlier this month. Sadly, the restaurant was broken into and the newly-raised the funds were stolen. You can read more about this story, here. Now, in an effort to re-raise the money, Pizza Fusion locations everywhere have banded together and are accepting donations for the Smith family at their restaurants or on the website. Through a partnership with Wells Fargo, donations made out to the Tracy and Frank Smith Family Fund can be dropped off at any Pizza Fusion location or a local Wells Fargo.

To show thanks for your donations, the Pizza Fusion in Buckhead is offering a free personal cheese pizza through the end of February to generous donations of $50 or more. The free pizza will be given during the following visit to the restaurant located at the Astoria in the Aramore building at 2233 Peachtree Road; 404-351-9334.

A Group Dinner at Pizza Fusion
Clean, sleek interior
We had a deliciously organic meal that started with wine and bread sticks. The mutli-grain and organic white sticks came with tomato marinara sauce and we added a side of olive tapenade. The combination of olives, garlic and red peppers made for a perfect dip.

We wanted to get a good taste of the pizzas so we ordered four of the Specialty Pies – Founder’s Pie, Greek, goat cheese & sundried tomato and the Seattle. All specialty pies are served large, which is 18” x 9”, and on a wooden plank. You have the choice of multi-grain, organic white or gluten-free crusts and we decided to test out each one.

The chalk wall boasts great lunch specials ($9.99 for a personal pizza, soda, side salad) and the build your own pizza option is enticing. In addition to organic beer and wine they also serve Boylan sodas that use natural sugar and my favorite, Honest Tea.
We had such a great time at Pizza Fusion. It’s unique in that the restaurant can host a group of ten or a couple on a date and everyone feels comfortable. The pizza is great and I love supporting a restaurant that uses organic ingredients and energy efficient appliances.
