Kevin Gillespie Teaches “Pure Pork Awesomeness” at Salud! in Whole Foods Avalon June 27


Celebrated chef Kevin Gillespie of GunshowRevival,Communion and Terminus City trots over to Whole Foods Market - Avalon in Alpharetta on Monday, June 27, for an evening of “Pure Pork Awesomeness.” The red-bearded Atlanta native will share his fiery passion for pork at a 7-9 p.m. class and book signing at Salud! Cooking School. Learn how to select, prepare and fork into pork in new recipes. Keep that fork handy to sample the “Pure Pork Awesomeness” class tasting menu: curried pork samosas, Korean barbecued bulgogi, grilled pork tenderloin with Spanish-style garlic shrimp and banoffee trifle with candied bacon. It’s “5% Day” at Atlanta-area Whole Foods Markets, and The Giving Kitchen will receive 5 percent of the day’s net sales at all eight local stores, including Harry’s Farmers Market locations. The Giving Kitchen was inspired by an outpouring of support from the city’s hospitality network when Atlanta chef Ryan Hidinger was diagnosed with late-stage cancer in December 2012. This homegrown nonprofit benefits members of Atlanta’s restaurant community facing unanticipated hardships and crisis situations.

Save that grocery list! On Tuesday, April 8, all eight metro-Atlanta Whole Foods Market and Harry’s Farmers Market locations are uniting and designating The Giving Kitchen as the beneficiary of their citywide “5% Day.” Inspired by an outpouring of support from our town’s hospitality network when Atlanta chef Ryan Hidinger was diagnosed with late-stage cancer in December 2012, this homegrown nonprofit provides grants to members of Atlanta’s restaurant community facing unanticipated hardships and crisis situations. On “5% Days,” a store donates 5 percent of the day’s net sales to a local non-profit or educational organization, so stock up!
