What's New on Pinterest: Cue the 'Cue
Cue the 'Cue because May is National BBQ Month. Pull the pork out of the wings and throw it into the limelight with “So Good You’ll Slap Yo Mama” smoked pork butt or 16-hour pulled pork. Strut the bird in bacon bourbon BBQ chicken kabobs, spicy smoked chicken thighs or go tandem with BBQ chicken and ribs. Slather on barbecue sauces – Guinness, Cheerwine, smoky bourbon, homemade root beer, blueberry, Alabama white, North Carolina vinegar or South Carolina mustard to name a few. Rather massage your meat? Pat it down with Buffalo spice rub, sweet and smoky BBQ dry rub mix, cowboy spice mix, pulled pork rubs or coffee rib rub. Your grill will be thrilled.

Respect the Pig at Revival Bacon Explosion October 24, Take Monday Off
Watch out! When two porcine buffs get together, a Bacon Explosion may result. So be it when chef Kevin Gillespie and BBQ Addict’s Jason Day bond over bacon at Revival on Saturday, October 24. Day makes his original Bacon Explosion, weaving a pound of bacon around two pounds of juicy sausage that encases a pound of fried bacon crumbles then grills the whole piggy parcel. Gillespie chimes in with additional snacks and well-matched craft beers from nearby Wild Heaven Brewery. Angry Orchard hard ciders also will be served at the noon-3 p.m. party for 100 guests. Live music by George Norman & Friends. Buy tickets on Xorbia: $30 price includes food and two drinks; $50 option throws in a copy of Gillespie’s “Pure Pork Awesomeness” cookbook.
Revival is turning off the fryer and cooling the ovens on Mondays to give the hardworking staff a day of rest each week. Fried chicken fans need not panic about missing out on a day of crisp-tender goodness and Southern trimmings. The Decatur restaurant now serves dinner on Saturdays beginning at 11 a.m. instead of 5 p.m. Raise a toast to Saturday with a selection from the updated wine and cocktail lists. Make reservations online or call 470-225-6770.

Kevin Gillespie Pops Up for Meals on Wheels at the Peachtree Road Farmers Market September 19
Kevin Gillespie of Glenwood Park sensation Gunshow and new Revival in Decatur hopes his pop-up chef demo at the Peachtree Road Farmers Market this Saturday, September 19 will help Meals On Wheels provide more farm-fresh produce and healthy meals to Atlanta seniors in need. Shoppers will be able to donate to Meals on Wheels Atlanta when they stop by the demo tent to watch the red-bearded, big-hearted chef transform market produce into delicious dishes like spicy sausage and kale soup. Donations offset the cost of vegetables provided to Meals on Wheels Atlanta. In the mood for something smokey? Terminus City chopped whole hog BBQ sandwiches are for sale to satisfy your 'cue craving. When he’s not chopping or mixing, Gillespie will set down knives and pull out pens to sign copies of his hog-wild cookbooks “Pure Pork Awesomeness” and "Fire in my Belly." Shop the largest producer-only market in Atlanta, held at The Cathedral of St. Philip, from 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m.

Of Pork and Produce -- Kevin Gillespie Mans Demo Booth at Morningside Farmers Market June 20
Farmers markets epitomize the passions of chef Kevin Gillespie: casting fresh, organic, sustainably raised and locally focused ingredients into sublime dishes for his guests. Saturday, June 20 finds the Gunshow owner and “Top Chef” celebrity in his hay day at the Morningside Farmers Market where he’ll be showing ways to keep farm-fresh produce in the forefront. Demo starts at 9 a.m. Market opens at 7:30 a.m., and just as the first pig gets the pick of the trough, you’ll want to get there early for best dibs on the season’s field-fresh produce.
Is dad a real ham? Tickles your ribs until you squeal with laughter? Brings home the bacon? On Father’s Day, give him the rest of the story – “Pure Pork Awesomeness” ($30). Gillespie will have copies of his porcine page turner at the demo booth that morning. Let him personalize a copy for dad when you buy the cookbook at the market.
