Abbondanza Celebrates the Harvest at La Tavola Trattoria



 
  
Abbondanza goes straight to Italy's heartland and brings its rich spectrum of ingredients - fruits, vegetables, meats and cheeses - to La Tavola Trattoria in Virginia Highland. Executive Chef Brent Banda celebrates the abundant harvest on La Tavola's fifth-annual Abbondanza menu, which is only available Wednesday, October 3 through Saturday, October 13.

Order Abbondanza as a $35 three-course prix fixe dinner (plus tax and gratuity) to savor the full spectrum or pick and choose à la carte. A quick peek at the Abbondanza menu reveals appetizers ($8-$12) such as grilled duck sausage and beet and farro verde salad; entrées ($16-$24) that include Sangiovese-braised short ribs risotto and angolotti del plin with roasted pumpkin, Grana Padano brodetto and pumpkin seed oil; and a sweet-salty torte di mele -- a salted caramel and Grana Padano gelato for dessert ($7).

$25 Buys Three Courses at Marlow's Tavern and South City Kitchen during Vinings Restaurant Week, September 23-29


 

Two of Vinings' friendliest restaurants are on the list for the September 23 - 29 Vinings Restaurant WeekMarlow's Tavern - Vinings and South City Kitchen Vinings are both offering three-course prix fixe menus for $25 (not including tax, gratuity or beverage). 

Your meal at Marlow's Tavern encompasses asparagus fries with tarragon and citrus aioli; southwestern grouper served with jalapeño corn grits, black bean and corn salsa, roasted tomato broth and crispy tortilla strips; and concludes with fried cheesecake with strawberry Anglaise drizzle. 

South City Kitchen Vinings fills its menu with Southern choices:  mixed baby lettuces with toasted pecans, Caesar salad with garlic grit crouton and fried okra or Old Charleston She-crab soup; buttermilk fried chicken, shrimp and grits or crispy catfish; and banana pudding, chocolate drunken voodoo zombie cake or the daily selection of High Road craft ice cream. From "Bottle Wars" to "Last Call" Savings, September is a "Month of Discovery" at Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar




Another reason to cheer and steer to the top of the Perimeter this month is the "Month of Discovery" underway at Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar. Each September, the restaurant pours on unique food and wine specials as it reveals the newest Fleming's 100, an unrivaled program of 100 iconic wines from around the globe - all available by the glass!  

"Bottle Wars" pits eight to 10 wines from Fleming's 100 against each other as wine region rivals in four Friday night themed tastings. Professionally trained wine managers lead guests through the $25-per-person experience. A "Pinot Smackdown" is slated for Friday, September 7, "Battle of the Hemispheres" follows on September 14, "Old World vs. New World" squares off on September 21 and "Glass Warfare" compares premium and budget-priced wines on September 28. "Last Call" uncorks 25 percent savings on premium wines by the bottle for the first two weeks of September. 

A new prix-fixe three-course menu for two plays a delicious co-star to the new wine collection ($99 for two, $49.50 for one). Each guest enjoys a triple entrée of broiled filet mignon, herb baked shrimp and braised short rib, with shrimp bisque and a dessert of frozen almond soufflé. An additional $25 per guest purchases a specially priced flight of three wines -- The Prisoner, Primus Cabernet and Quintessa 2006 -- all from the Huneeus Vintners Portfolio.

New Season, New Reason to Visit Ray’s


Spring is so close we can practically taste it! The chefs at Ray's Restaurants are giving us a chance to enjoy spring flavors with their new three-course menus, by pulling from this season’s freshest market offerings. Guests can choose one selection for each course; wine selections, tax and gratuity are not included in the menu prices. These prix fixe menus are available every day and vary by restaurant:
  • At Ray's at Killer Creek, Executive Chef Tracey Bloom's $30 menu boasts entrée choices of roasted chicken breast with bacon risotto and porcini mushroom sauce, Atlantic salmon with herb butter sauce and hand-cut pasta with grilled shrimp and garlic butter.
  • A few miles south on the Chattahoochee, Ray's on the River Executive Chef Josh Warner's menu includes entrée choices of goat cheese- and fennel-stuffed airline chicken breast with celery root purée and watercress salad or Moroccan spiced hangar steak joined by Lyonnaise potatoes and Vidalia spring onion. Cost is $39.99 per person.
  • Downtown, Executive Chef Ugo Okpareke at Ray's in the City offers entrée choices of mango grilled salmon with a mango BBQ glaze, sesame sautéed spinach and crispy Asian noodles or flat iron steak with blue cheese whipped potatoes, grilled asparagus and wild mushroom demi glaze. Cost is $35 per person.
To round out your dining experience, sommeliers are ready to help you choose complementing wines, and each restaurant has appetizer and dessert selections that are guaranteed to be as delicious as the entrées. 

Ray's at Killer Creek is also offering new Sunday lunch options. Customers can embark on their lunch journey by indulging in a $5 Bloody Mary from Sunday's available-all-day Bloody Mary list. Menu offerings include: 
  • Classic French onion soup, crab bisque or soup du jour ($5-$7)
  • Meal-worthy salads such as tuna niçoise salad and Chinese chicken salad ($15-$17)
  • A soup and salad combo ($12)
  • Soy flounder sandwich with spicy Sriracha aioli ($13)
  • Jumbo lump crab cake with roasted corn salsa, mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus ($17)
  • Shrimp and grits prepared with bacon, mushrooms, red peppers and Gouda and Asiago cheeses ($15).
Guests who want to keep their lunch short and sweet can try Ray's $10 lunch menu. Selections include a cheddar burger, hickory burger, vegetarian pasta, chicken sandwich, Caesar salad with calamari or grilled chopped Black Angus beef steak. Iced tea, coffee or sodas are included in the set price.

Get Three Courses of Comfort for Only $35 at Ray's Restaurants

Come in from the cold to Ray's Restaurants (Ray's on the River, Ray's in the City and Ray's Killer Creek) where you can warm up with Ray’s Wonderful Winter dinner menu for a sizzling price of $35 per person. This definitely beats curling up on the couch with hot cocoa and a Snuggie! Choose a selection from each of the three menu courses. Start with a soup or salad, with options such as crab bisque with aged sherry or Ray’s house salad. Then move on to the entrée course which features garlic shrimp penne pasta, a six-ounce petite filet, a 12-ounce New York strip or Chef Tom’s award-winning 10-ounce Niman Ranch Frenched bone pork chop. The sweet finale includes the classics: chocolate cake or crème brûlée. Wine is not included in the menu price, but wine pairings are suggested on the menu for those guests who would like to add them to the meal. Substitutions are not permitted for this prix fixe menu, and items cannot be split.
