Go Sunny-side Up Over Ormsby’s New Weekend Brunch Plates and Cocktail Menus

Ormsby’s weekend brunch is the Westside place to hash out upcoming plans over a plate of corned beef and hash with a sunny-side up egg ($12) and Ormsby’s yellow bloody Mary ($10). Rough week? Seek comfort in shrimp and grits resplendent with roasted red peppers, caramelized onions and a nip of cream sherry ($12 small, $16 regular) chased by blackberry ginger bourbon iced tea ($9). Tilt a Monkey Mosa ($8) in the left hand while the right hoists a jalapeño cheddar biscuit balancing fried chicken, scrambled eggs and cheddar not to mention sides of bacon, grits or potato hash ($10). Come again for a classic champagne cocktail ($9) and Southern-fried chicken and Belgian or red velvet waffles with chipotle syrup and two eggs ($10), salmon croquette Benedict ($14) or raisin challah French toast with applewood-smoked bacon ($10). Ormsby’s respects night owls by waiting until noon to serve brunch each Saturday and Sunday and keeping the plates coming until 3 p.m.

“The Breakfast Club” turned 30 this year. School years haven’t gone by so fast for the characters repped by Molly, Ally, Judd, Emilio and Anthony. The perpetual high schoolers are still spending Saturday mornings in study hall, peeling back their stereotypes to reveal similarities and differences. Saturdays in June, you’ll find them doing so at MAX’s Wine Dive’s congenial brunch. The Midtown restaurant salutes a catchy theme each month, and “The Breakfast Club” pulls in a hall pass for June. Shermer High detention hall was never like this -- mimosas at $3 a glass, Bellinis at $5 a glass and Chef Patric Bell-Good’s brunch menu -- and the campy, coming-of-age movie circulating on screens from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. MAX’s advice: come Saturday, don’t you forget about me.

Mimosas and Bloody Marys are $1 at Article 14 Weekend Brunch

If the only tough decisions in life were about mimosas and bloody marys, the world might be a happier place. For a limited time, Article 14 in Midtown is serving up $1 mimosas and $1 bloody marys during Saturday or Sunday brunch, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Pair your drink with menu favorites like summer berries with Greek yogurt and local honey ($8) or a simple garden salad ($7). You can also enjoy a farmers market omelet with Many Fold sheep’s milk cheese ($12) or the Daily Grind of Angus beef with aged white cheddar on brioche ($12). Sip, eat and be merry.
