Dawgs and Gators Agree: Moxie Kitchen + Cocktails is the Place to Meet and Eat in JAX on “World’s Largest Cocktail Party” Weekend October 30-November 1
Dawgs will be heading south to Jacksonville, Florida this weekend for one of SEC football’s fiercest rivalries as UGA battles the Florida Gators on Saturday, October 31 at 3:30 p.m. on EverBank Field. Some call it “The World’s Largest Cocktail Party.” We call it prime time to visit Moxie Kitchen + Cocktails for some of the city’s best eats from the kitchen of James Beard Award-nominated chef Tom Gray. Relish his locally sourced, authentic American menu for lunch, dinner or Sunday brunch. The strong cocktail menu features artisan and small-batch liquors, house-made fruit shrubs and cocktail classics. The well-curated beer list taps Jacksonville-based breweries and more, a Cal-centric wine list woos vineyard followers and handmade sodas offer bubbles without the alcohol buzz. Moxie extends special 4.B4.5 pricing on handcrafted cocktails every day, offering select pours for $4 between 3-5 p.m. and regular happy hour pricing form 5-7 p.m. and again on Friday and Saturday from 10 p.m.-12:30 a.m. closing time. Other specials include $4 craft drafts, $6 wines by the glass and $5.50 premium wells.

Marlow's Stays Impartial on UGA-GT Rivalry
Here at MLA we have a couple of Auburn folks, a Florida girl, a Tennessee fan and several UGA boosters (Go Dawgs!) but nary a Georgia Tech alum. (We do call one when we need IT help though!) This Saturday, Nov. 30 is, of course, the big rivalry game between the Georgia teams and Marlow's Tavern in Midtown is throwing down an epic tailgate party starting at noon. Jackets and Dawgs alike can enjoy an outside mobile bar, four big-screen HDTVs, grill-fired foods, drink promos, giveaways and beer truck touchdowns by Athens' Terrapin Beer and Atlanta's SweetWater Brewery. The party continues with a DJ and tunes after the clock runs out. Score!

Hot Diggity Dawg! White Oak Pastures Named to the Bulldog 100
Two things are really significant about White Oak Pastures receiving this honor on January 21. One, the Bluffton, Ga. farm is the only farm or farm-related business to be chosen by the UGA Alumni Association for the Bulldog 100: Fastest Growing Bulldog Businesses Class of 2012. Two, it ranks as this year’s fourth fastest-growing Bulldog business. White Oak Pastures top Dawg Will Harris is a 1976 UGA graduate and a fourth-generation cattleman on the same land his great grandfather settled in 1866. Nearly 800 nominations were submitted to the UGA Alumni Association for this year’s rankings, representing companies all across the U.S. Criteria includes being in business for at least five years with revenues of $100,000 or more for calendar year 2008, being owned or operated by a former UGA student who owns at least 50 percent of the company or who is the CEO, president or managing partner. The program recognizes the fastest-growing businesses regardless of size by focusing on a three-year growth rate average. Congrats to Will Harris and his White Oak Pastures team!Don’t forget that tomorrow is the last day to save some green during the White Oak Pastures sale. Some of their most popular poultry and grass-fed beef items are offered at special prices online only.

UGA Young Alum Take Over Harry Bissett's
Last night the UGA Young Alumni Council hosted a Back to Work party at Harry Bissett's in Atlanta as an excuse to party one more time before we officially say goodbye to the holidays. It was a great event! Nearly 100 young alumni showed up to eat, drink and boo the Gators.
Bissett's set up a nice buffet for the group - red beans and rice, a gumbo and some of the best wings I've ever had (I don't usually even like wings). There were actually several different events going on at the restaurant last night (everyone was watching the National Championship game) but Bissett's did a great job making sure each party had plenty of private space, attentive servers and lots of TVs.Go Dawgs!
