Autism is becoming the fastest-growing serious developmental disability in the U.S. with one in 68 children diagnosed, and Autism Speaks is on the run toward determining causes, prevention, treatment and a possible cure. Bantam + Biddy and Chick-a-Biddy are sporting the latest look in wall and window coverings: big, bold puzzle pieces. Help them finish the job. Donate to the Autism Speaks Puzzle Piece Campaign this month at all four Bantam + Biddy locations (Ansley, Crescent Avenue, Lenox Square and Avalon) and Chick-a-Biddy in Atlantic Station and receive a large, colorful puzzle piece. Pen in a name and a message and add it to each restaurant’s collection of pieces plastering windows and walls in support of Autism Speaks. Aiding good causes comes as naturally to these friendly eateries as frying up all-natural chicken and creating the delicious regionally inspired dishes guests love. Atlantans flock to Chick-a-Biddy in Atlantic Station for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch for the healthy and affordable pastured-poultry dishes, sirloin burgers, fish tacos, falafels and other specialties. This weekend, let’s focus on legs and thighs -- the ones crossing the 9:30 a.m. start line and walking 1.5 miles in Walk Now for Autism Speaks at Atlantic Station. This organization is near and dear to Chick-a-Biddy chef-owner Shaun Doty, and his eatery is an event sponsor. Brunch service begins at 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning. Stop in after the walk for cold libations, almond pancakes, a protein scramble or something equally satisfying on the brunch menu.

Roost at Chick-a-Biddy for $15 Deal during Atlantic Station Restaurant Week to Benefit Autism Speaks, May 12-18

 

We say “roost” because those who love Chick-a-Biddy’s pimento cheese, piri piri chicken and fried chicken will want to stop by daily for their chicken fix during Atlantic Station Restaurant Week, May 12-18. The casual eatery is offering a $15 prix fixe menu during lunch and dinner that gives guests a choice of a pimento cheese or a veggie chili appetizer, a quarter of piri piri or fried chicken with two sides for the main slot, and a chocolate chip pecan cookie or gluten-free chocolate cupcake for dessert. Chick-a-Biddy owner Shaun Doty is a longtime supporter of Autism Speaks, the beneficiary of this first-ever Atlantic Station Restaurant Week. Diners can also show their receipts at select Atlantic Station retailers to receive store discounts. According to Autism Speaks, every 11 minutes another family discovers that their child has an autism spectrum disorder, the fastest-growing serious developmental disorder in the U.S. Bantam + Biddy executive chef and co-owner Shaun Doty actively supports causes relating to autism, and he’s holding an Autism Speaks Charity Night at the Bantam + Biddy Crescent Avenue location on Tuesday, April 1. Ten percent of all proceeds after 5 p.m. will benefit Walk Now for Autism Speaks.
