FN’s New “Incredible Edible America with the Dunhams” Brakes for Sublime Doughnuts Stopover on First Episode June 5

You bet your A-Town Cream Sublime Doughnuts and its special SweetWater doughnut are on our radar for National Doughnut Day, this Friday, June 2…which leads us to crave seeing Sublime on the first episode of Food Network’s new ”Incredible Edible America with the Dunhams,” premiering Monday, June 5 at 10 p.m. Comedian and ventriloquist Jeff Dunham, food-blogging wife Audrey and some of Jeff’s beloved characters set out on a culinary road trip of a lifetime to learn firsthand how America’s chefs are putting their creativity to work in taste bud-tantalizing ways. Right off the bat in episode 1, (or batter, as the case may be), they’ll stop by Sublime Doughnuts to roll with chef Kamal Grant. Appropriately, the Sublime vignette comes on the heels of National Doughnut Day, June 2. Advance filming means the Dunhams may miss out on the special SweetWater doughnut Sublime is crafting for National Doughnut Day or the latest Saturday Cereal doughnut, but since Sublime whips up 30 different chef-inspired doughnut flavors on any given day, we’re certain there’s a sweet ending. Pick up a dozen doughnuts from the Midtown or Druid Hills Sublime Doughnut shop locations and invite some friends over for a scrumptious viewing party.

Celebrate National Doughnut Day with Hometown Sweeties Sublime Doughnuts and SweetWater Brewing Company at Tasting Event and at Both Locations

Sweet treats and toasting beverages are a dynamic duo for a holiday celebration. Sublime Doughnuts, Atlanta’s specialty bakeshop selling high-quality, chef-inspired doughnuts, is partnering with SweetWater Brewing Company to ensure National Doughnut Day will be the happiest, hoppy-est holiday around town for beer and doughnut lovers. On Friday, June 2, these two Atlanta darlings are treating SweetWater tour-goers to four perfectly paired beer and doughnut tastings when they purchase the $12 brewery tour between 5:30-7:30 p.m. Flavors include Dulce de Leche (yeast doughnut ring topped with caramel sauce), Dirty D (yeast doughnut ring topped with milk chocolate and Oreo and Nestle crumbs), B-Day (yeast doughnut ring topped with a vanilla glaze and sprinkles) and Glazed Ring (yeast doughnut topped with a signature vanilla glaze). Completing Friday’s out-of-the-bakery-box experience, Sublime and SweetWater have dreamed up an exclusive co-branded cask of beer to be tapped at the event.
Since it is National Doughnut DAY, you may want to celebrate all day long. Good thing Sublime Doughnuts shops in West Midtown and North Druid Hills are open 24 hours daily. Additionally, the North Druid Hills store is kosher certified. As Sublime Doughnuts founder and creative director Kamal Grant insists, “eat one that’s worth it.” Sublime creates more than 30 chef-inspired doughnuts, plus a weekly “Will It Doughnut” featuring wild ingredients from Kamal’s flavor wheel. Trust us, each one is oh, so worth it.

Sublime Doughnuts’ “Doughnations” Hit a Sweet Spot for The Salvation Army on National Doughnut Day June 3

Sublime Doughnuts are doubly good on National Doughnut Day, Friday, June 3. Each doughnut purchase – at either the Midtown or North Druid Hills shop – adds to the “doughnation” Sublime will send to The Salvation Army in honor of the sweet holiday.

Backstory: The idea for
Doughnut Day developed during World War I when The Salvation Army workers served coffee and doughnuts to American soldiers fighting in France as a means of bringing them cheer (and taking their minds off poor rations). The Salvation Army volunteers fried the doughnuts in soldiers’ helmets! The Salvation Army then founded National Doughnut Day during the Great Depression to raise funds and awareness for the organization’s social service programs. The doughy story rings true and close to the heart of Sublime Doughnuts owner Kamal Grant, a Navy veteran who served as a baker on the USS John Young. The icing? You’re in for a treat, whether choosing one A-Town Cream or a dozen Yin Yang Twists on June 3, and you’ll be helping The Salvation Army fulfill its manifesto of “Doing the Most Good.”

What’s New on Pinterest: Get Glazed

Fun Fact: National Doughnut Day originated with The Salvation Army back in 1938 and has since rolled onto the first Friday of June each year. Our Get Glazed Pinterest board pays homage to these tender golden rings and zeroes in on the double-decker doughnut with doughnut-hole studs at King + Duke in Buckhead. What a royal sugar rush!
