Doughnuts and Donations for Krispy Kreme Cops on Shops

From 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, Law Enforcement Torch Run deputies will be perched on the roof of the Krispy Kreme Doughnuts store at 6761 Veterans Parkway in Columbus. These heroes have been sitting on top of Krispy Kreme Doughnut shops to raise money for Special Olympics athletes in Georgia for a dozen years now, so stop by and help donate. A $5 donation receives a thank you treat from Krispy Kreme. Donate $1,000 or more, and Krispy Kreme throws a complimentary doughnut party for you. Customers will enjoy fun activities on the ground level such as a space walk (courtesy of Clownin' Around Amusement Rentals) and "Dunk a Deputy" for a $2 donation. Cool off with a treat from The Ice Cream Girl & Co. and 20 percent goes to the fundraiser. Don’t forget about all of the yummy doughnut choices, iced drinks and Krispy Kreme Chillers inside.

Celebrate National Doughnut Day with Krispy Kreme

This Friday, June 1st, let Krispy Kreme Doughnuts in Columbus, Ga. treat you to a free doughnut of your choice. Whether it's Original Glazed®, sprinkled with sugar or iced, enjoy this well-rounded treat in honor of National Doughnut Day. The Salvation Army initiated the annual occasion in 1948 to raise funds for those in need during the Great Depression, and it remains something to look forward to on the first Friday of each June. Share your doughy delight via Twitter (@KrispyKreme #DoughnutDay), but make sure to lick your fingers clean first. The Columbus Krispy Kreme Doughnuts shop is located at 6761 Veterans Parkway, 706-320-2124.

One More Doughnut Won't Hurt When It's For A Great Cause

Muscogee County marshals must be hoping the Krispy Kreme "Hot Now" sign will pertain to the fresh, hot Krispy Kreme doughnuts...and not to the temps on their store-top perch during their "Deputies and Doughnuts" fundraiser this Saturday. Being hot is a small discomfort compared to the challenges 7-year-old Rhiannon Griggs faces as she deals with Rett Syndrome. The genetic neurodevelopmental disorder prevents Rhiannon's brain from communicating with her body - she can't speak and needs help feeding, dressing, walking and tackling basic daily activities. The deputies' goal is to raise money to buy Rhiannon a mobility stroller, which costs $3,000. To do so, they'll park themselves on the Krispy Kreme roof from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 20. Customers who donate money will get a sweet treat in return, ranging from a free Original Glazed doughnut to a complimentary doughnut party for generous corporations, organizations or individuals donating $1,000 or more.

Chefs Know How to Party!

Yesterday, I attended Share Our Stength's Taste of the Nation event. I had been looking forward to the event, held at the Georgia Aquarium, for quite some time. Participating chefs included John Metz of Aqua Blue; Gerry Klaskala of Aria; Micah Willix of Ecco; Keira Moritz of Pacci (pictured below), Kevin Rathbun and Scott Serpas.
While I had a great time rubbing elbows the likes of Kenny Rogers and his lovely wife Wanda (below), and “sampled” much more than I should have, there is another, less publicized part of the evening that stole the show for me.
The chef after party is where the chefs go to let their hair down, and apparently, let their diets down, too. The night was full of catching up with old friends, making new ones and relaxing after a great Taste of the Nation event.
On the menu: Cheese Wiz and crackers, Slim Jims, Pringles, Gummy Bears on a stick, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, pimento cheese sandwiches, Ho-Hos, Twinkies, Little Debbie Oatmeal sandwiches and Cracker Jacks. But, the night was all about everyone’s favorite menu item: Jell-o shots with Pop Rocks!! Who’d have thought a childhood candy like that could be the star of a party of chefs!?
With a menu that sounds eerily like my 9th birthday sleepover, a room full of chefs and a belly full of tastings from Atlanta’s most celebrated chefs, I had a full night! Can’t wait until next year; I heart chefs!

It's an Honor to "Cop Out" When You're a Cop on Top of a Krispy Kreme Doughnut Shop

We admit the view of hot, Original Glazed doughnuts rolling off the line inside Krispy Kreme Doughnut Shops is pretty tempting, yet these metro Atlanta “Cops on Doughnut Shops” insist the view’s much more spectacular from higher up on the rooftops. Could be because they’re seeing a bigger picture: raising dough for the Law Enforcement Torch Run® to help Special Olympics Georgia. Complete the scene by bringing a “dough-nation” by an area Krispy Kreme Doughnut Shop between 6 a.m. on Friday, March 7 and 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 9. You’ll receive a sweet treat for helping out -- could be a free Original Glazed doughnut or a complimentary doughnut party for donors of $1,000 or more. These cops have been eating, sleeping and playing on Krispy Kreme roof tops for six years! Last year they raised a record $93,874…this year they’re setting sights on $100,000! http://www.krispykreme.com/
