The
Atlanta
Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) is burning to know your
opinion on what Rhett would drink if he were cruising through Atlanta’s hot
cocktail spots today. Mixologists are shaking up entries for the ACVB Battle of the Bottles, a contest themed
to mark the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Atlanta and the 75th anniversary
of the movie “Gone with the Wind.” Your job is to circle friends ‘round said
thirst slakers, drink up and vote through May 26. Whet your whistle on Aqua blue’s
“It’s About Bourbon, Thyme & Scarlett,” the Meyer lemon whiskey sour at Bantam + Biddy,
“Rhett’s Southern Pecan Pie” at Nikolai’s Roof, the “Apple Chai Manhattan” at Ray’s on the River and “Ted’s Huckleberry
Derby” at Ted’s
Montana Grill. To know what you’re getting into ingredient-wise,
read the lowdown on these highballs and martinis on the ballot.

Appetizing Aperture: Nikolai's Roof Southern Pecan Pie Cocktail
Nikolai’s Roof,
atop the Hilton Atlanta, crafts a decadent Southern Pecan Pie after-dinner
cocktail with Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey, dark crème de cacao, Liquor 43,
Frangelico and cream. In lieu of a crust, the glass is rimmed with crushed
caramelized pecans. Look for this Southern champion in the Atlanta Convention

Fifth Group Restaurants: Atlanta Hospitality Hall of Fame Member of the Year Finalist
Fried
green tomatoes with goat cheese and red pepper coulis at South City Kitchen Midtown
has spoken to Southern heritage and big city sophistication since the
restaurant first welcomed guests in 1993. Just visualizing it can make your mouth water. In 1996, Bold American Events opened on the
other side of downtown Atlanta in a 100-year-old renovated Westside
factory…before trendy became a Westside adjective. Over the years, Fifth Group Restaurants has added more in-town dining destinations: La Tavola
Trattoria, Ecco, South City Kitchen Vinings,
The Original El Taco, Alma Cocina and Lure. The different cuisines offer something appealing to every type of Atlantan. With such draw, no wonder that the
restaurant group is an Atlanta
Hospitality Hall of Fame Member of the Year finalist. The 15th
annual Hospitality Hall of Fame celebration will take place on November 12 at
The Foundry at Puritan Mill. In addition to honoring Atlanta’s hospitality
industry greats, this year’s event will mark the year end celebration of the
Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau’s (ACVB) 100th anniversary! Join in a night of celebration and remembrance. The ACVB, Atlanta Business Chronicle and the Georgia World Congress
Center trio back this prestigious event. Fill a table with 10 guests for $1,250
or purchase individual tickets for $125 each by emailing Ellie Westman Chin at ewestmanchin@atlanta.net. Thursday, May 16, 2013

Feathers Are Flying

Every January, the International Poultry Expo/International Feed Expo arrives at the Georgia World Congress Center for a week of talking turkey and crowing about chickens. And during their visit each year, the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau and the U.S Poultry and Egg Association hatch FeatherFest, the weeklong culinary competition between Atlanta restaurants to see who can create the best poultry meat-based appetizers and entrées. From Jan. 21 - Jan. 27, Atlanta restaurant goers and IPE convention attendees can vote for their picks on the FeatherFest website and be entered to win an iPhone! Our recommendations for poultry perfection include Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse, Fifth Group Restaurants, Marlow's Tavern - Northlake, Ray's In The City, and Spice Market in the W Atlanta-Midtown!
