Chido + Padre’s Chef Jonathan Mercado Baja-Style Party, Opening March 13
Southern Proper Hospitality says “Hola,” to Jonathan Mercado as executive chef for Chido + Padre’s, the company’s newest concept, which will bring bold Baja-style Mexican food, tequila and fiesta to 128 East Andrews Drive in Buckhead starting March 13. Take a look at some of the authentically Baja-Mex fresh, coastal cuisine he’ll turn out from a mesquite wood-burning grill for guests to enjoy: campechana with mango, avocado, rock shrimp, chilies and tomato-clam broth; Baja-style fish of the day with coconut rice, tomatillo-avocado sauce and pomegranate seeds; chicken mole with Baja cabbage slaw, black beans and sesame seeds; and cochinita pibil tacos with banana leaf pork shoulder, sour orange, achiote and chicharrones. Well versed in Mexican cuisine, Mercado honed his skills making handcrafted tacos and made-from-scratch Mexican fare as executive chef at Bartaco and Rosa Mexicano. The graduate of Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Academy is passionate about eco-friendly, self-sustainable cuisine and having fun in the kitchen. The chef and his family often host their own Iron Chef-style competitions at home. Chido + Padre’s will initially serve lunch and dinner and add weekend brunch at a later date. Mexico in this month’s Taco Night Pop-Up. Serrano’s Mexico City-style street
food is the real deal, and like real street food, it’s always on the move…so
get yours while it’s hot! On Monday, September 21, Taco Night pops up at Last
Word in the Old Fourth Ward starting at 6 p.m. on the dot! Chef Serrano
partners with Chef Lesley Tellez for the evening, author of the recently
released cookbook, “Eat Mexico.” While diners have the chance to order one of
her recipes from the menu, Chef Tellez will be on hand to chat about her love
of Mexican cuisine with copies of her book in tow. Come one, come all and grab
a taco and cookbook!

Tin Lizzy's Opens Early at Mall of Georgia for Black Friday Shoppers

Tackle the stores then plop down and take on some tacos at the Tin Lizzy's Cantina Mall of Georgia location. The Buford cantina will open early at 10 a.m. on Black Friday, November 28. Along with quesadillas, Tin Lizzy's FlexMex menu boasts more than 25 different tacos filled with veggies, chicken, steak or seafood, plus dips and starters, nachos, soups, salads and sizzling skillets. A margarita or brew melts away mall mania, and the kid's menu keeps the youngsters happy. Closing the mall? This location stays open until 2 a.m. Saturday morning.
