Appetizing Aperture

What did dad say when his son headed to FLIP burger boutique? “Bison.” Yessir, a grassroots movement first stampeded National Bison Day through Congress in 2012, and bison devotees are upholding the annual tradition. FLIP rounds up the range for a brawny Big Bison burger: eight-ounce bison patty, bibb lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, bacon, fried egg and FLIP sauce ($16). Corral a side of sweet potato tots with coffee BBQ spice or blue cheese dressing. Follow the National Bison Legacy Act.

Appetizing Aperture

The bison, a strong American icon and symbol of Big Sky Country, thunders across the menu at Ted's Montana Grill. Yet, like any rancher, Ted's has a sweet side. Ted's fresh-baked cookies -- snickerdoodles, oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip or double chocolate -- may cause a stampede at your table. Order up a herd ($2 each) to pal with coffee or an adult shake or sidesaddle your pick with Häagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream ($6).

You'll FLIP Over this Bison Burger

The turkey lurking leftovers are kaput, and we're moving on to something thick with a little kick and appropriately jacketed in a toasty bun. The bison burger, FLIP burger boutique's December burger of the month, grazes our radar. FLIP adorns its tender, juicy bison patty Southwest-style with pepper Jack cheese, cilantro-lime mayo and two onion rings stacked to contain bison chili and seasoned sour cream. A perky cilantro sprig doubles as holiday greenery. Feliz Navidad, y'all.

Saddle Up with Ted’s Montana Grill to Make the Bison America’s National Mammal

The national emblem might be set in stone, but the spot for national mammal is still open! The bison is the largest land mammal in the country and according to the  Ted’s Montana Grill crew, it’s the perfect national mammal. Read about the cause and "Vote Bison" on the Make Bison the National Mammal Petition.
