DailyCandy Definition

Lest you think it's all about outward appearances, let us expand on that comment. The DailyCandy Lexicon recognizes that some of us may be a little squeamish over eating certain foods. "Tripe-Idation" politely describes this foodie phobia.

Tripe-Idation
n. Fear of innards and other scary foods. (the bone marrow gave me serious tripe-idation.)

Suggested usage: Paul ordered the pork belly tapas as nonchalantly as if asking for a Varsity hot dog. Tina quaked in tripe-idation anticipating what would soon appear at their table.

DailyCandy Definition - One Word, Two Meanings

First glance has you thinking this has something to do with your email inbox. Not quite. Remember, we talk about food and drinks here and so is The DailyCandy Lexicon in addressing the characteristics of a high-end and lower-end spammelier.

Spammelier: n. 1. a sommelier who gives you too many choices. 2. Someone who’s an expert on canned meats.

Splurge: Her head was spinning from the long list of wines the spammelier had just reeled off…maybe she’d just stick with the house wine.

Budget: As they stood facing the long aisle of canned meats, poultry and fish, they wished the store’s personal shopper spammelier was not tied up with another customer.

DailyCandy Lexicon Party

Last night Caryn and I celebrated the launch of The DailyCandy Lexicon: Words That Don't Exist but Should. The get-together was held at Wordsmiths Books in Decatur and as promised there were plenty of sweets and sips provided. Colorful cupcakes from Sweet Pockets lined the wall next to the bar. I had a RazTaz (chocolate cupcake with raspberry filling and raspberry buttercream frosting - yum!).

There was a great turn out for the launch and I love the concept of this book. You know when you get caught snooping through your boyfriend's things? You probably couldn't find a word for it, until now that is. You're snoopid. And what about the people at the gym who cannot help but check themselves out for hours in the mirror? Staremasters! The book is full of words that you will soon be using in your everyday vocabulary. Plus you get a behind-the-scenes look at what the editors are doing. Thanks to Atlanta Editor Tiffany Davis and all the people at Wordsmiths Books for having us!
You can purchase the book online at DailyCandy or Amazon.
